Retreats

Throughout the academic year CW sponsors several retreats.  Currently, the following two retreats are planned for this fall, the Overnight to ATL in August and the Fall Retreat to WVA in October.

Overnight to ATL

When: Friday, 8/28 - Saturday 8/29
Where: Decatur and Six Flags
Who: Everyone who is interested

In lieu of our traditional overnight rafting trip in August, this fall we'll be traveling to Hotlanta for a fun time as we spend time with old friends and make some new ones.

We'll depart from Clemson UMC around 3:30 pm on Friday, carpool to Decatur, GA where we'll be hosted by First UMC - Decatur (where former Assistant Campus Minister Steve Simoneaux is interning this fall).  We'll enjoy some dinner and then head as a group to the contra dancing event held that night in Decatur.  Never been contra dancing? Don't worry! It is great fun and a great way to get to know others! Make sure to bring your ID so that we can get reduced admission.

On Saturday, we'll eat some breakfast and then head over to Six Flags where we will spend the day like you never have before.  Yes, we'll enjoy the rides and other attractions, but we'll also have some other things planned for you to do that we will remain a mystery until we arrive.

The cost is only $25 and covers your transportation, two meals (dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday), a t-shirt, and admission to the contra dancing and Six Flags.  To sign up email Lane at glaze@clemson.edu ASAP!

Fall Retreat to WVA

When: Friday, 10/9 - Tuesday 10/13
Where: West Virginia
Who: Everyone who is interested

This year's fall retreat will be an extended trip to West Virginia over CU's fall break in October.  Maybe more than any other weekend of the year, the Fall Retreat weekend is the time when lifelong friendships and memories are made.

We'll leave Clemson that Friday afternoon and trek up to beautiful West Virginia, which should be beautiful that time of the year.  Our plan is to spend one full day on retreat, one full day in mission locally, and one full day rafting down the Lower New River.

The costs is yet to be determined, but as always we'll try to keep it as reasonable as we can.  Mark your calendars and spread the word...it should be a grand time!
