This is a new initiative for Clemson Wesley this fall! We know that the transition to college life is very exciting but can be difficult at times. We also know that many of us here at Clemson Wesley found the transition much easier with a little guidance from upperclassmen. These ideas lead us to put together a big brother/big sister program.
Here’s how it works… Each new student will have the option of requesting a big brother or big sister. Upperclassmen may request a particular freshman, or pairs can be assigned based on major, interests, or randomly. Being/having a Big Brother/Sister is by no means a requirement of belonging to the Wesley family or necessary to fit in, it's just a little support for those of us who need it!
What does a big brother/sister do? The ideal purpose of this program is to provide guidance and support to new students, whether it be academic, emotional, personal, or spiritual. A Big Brothers/Big Sister will be a friend who can offer advice about classes, help you get connected in the ministry, or be there for support when you're having a bad day. Remember that a Big Brother/Sister genuinely wants to get to know the new students as well as prayerfully support them!
We are really excited about this new program, and can’t wait to see what comes of it!!
