MLK Day of Service

Students and others connected to CU,

Once again this year students, faculty and administrators will be invited to take a "day on" rather than a "day off" in celebration of the MLK holiday.  This year's Day of Service will be held on Monday, January 21.  The DOS has been growing in its presence and impact in the community since its inception a number of years ago, with volunteers exceeding over three hundred folks in recent years.  Over the holidays, I hope that you will log on and sign up to serve on that day.  The link can be found at:

The opportunities that day are wide and varied and include giving blood, helping with food and clothes drives, working with children and teenagers, making home repairs or visiting with the elderly.  If you have never participated in this event before, 2008 is the perfect time to start.

In the spirit of Dr. King's quest for the Beloved Community, I invite you to consider signing up with a person of another race, creed, or nationality that you might know.  This day will be a great time to get to know that someone better, especially someone who is different than you.

May God be with you all over the holidays,
lane
